Speculation over an imminent reshuffle of Cyprus' Council of Ministers intensified on Friday, with media reports suggesting that announcements could be made as early as today.
Reports have circulated regarding possible appointments and ministerial changes, including several names linked to the Democratic Rally (DISY) and the Democratic Party (DIKO).
Names in the bag
Among the names mentioned in several reports is Tina Pavlou, who is being linked to the Health Ministry. Pavlou ran as a DISY independent candidate in the recent parliamentary elections.
Reports have also mentioned Christos Angelides, who was a DISY candidate in the 2024 European Parliament elections.
From the DIKO camp, media reports have suggested that Christos Senekis could take over the Agriculture Ministry, while Evi Tsolaki could be appointed Deputy Minister for Social Welfare.
Reported ministerial changes
According to the latest reports, Neophytos Charalambidis is expected to move from the Health Ministry to the Transport Ministry.
Klea Papaellina is also reportedly set to move from the Deputy Ministry for Social Welfare to the Deputy Ministry of Culture.
If these reports are confirmed, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades and Deputy Minister of Culture Vasiliki Kassianidou would leave the Council of Ministers.
Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou has already accepted an appointment in public education starting in September and will therefore not be part of the new Council of Ministers, should the reshuffle proceed.
No official announcement had been made at the time of reporting.
