The Reptile & Amphibian Park in Neo Chorio is celebrating its first anniversary, having welcomed families, students and visitors from across Cyprus and abroad since opening its doors.
During its first 365 days of operation, 3,534 people visited the park, which was created to introduce the public to the world of reptiles and amphibians.
Reptiles, amphibians and biodiversity
The park houses live reptiles and amphibians, including snakes, lizards and other native and exotic species. Visitors can observe the animals up close while learning about their characteristics, roles and importance.
Its main objective is to raise environmental awareness about the role of reptiles and amphibians in ecosystems, the preservation of biodiversity and the need to protect these species.
Particular emphasis has also been placed on the animals’ living conditions. The enclosures were designed with environmental sustainability in mind and aim to replicate the species’ natural habitats as closely as possible. They include shaded areas, water and plants to provide suitable conditions for the animals.
Interactive learning for visitors
A visit to the park goes beyond simply observing the animals. An interactive screen provides children and adults with further information about the species on display through games and question-based activities.
Marking the park’s first anniversary, its team thanked the public for its response and support.
“Over the past 365 days, we have had the honour of welcoming thousands of families, students and visitors from every corner of Cyprus and abroad, totalling 3,534 visitors,” the park said.
Its management also expressed gratitude for the public’s “continued trust, warmth and practical support”.

It offers visitors an opportunity to learn more about animals that are often feared or remain unfamiliar to the wider public, despite playing an important role in ecosystems.
