A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting Cyprus, bringing an increased chance of unsettled weather over the coming days.
Friday: Showers and isolated storms
Friday will begin mostly sunny, but cloud will gradually develop through the day.
By the afternoon, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly over the mountains and some inland areas. Hail is possible in stronger thunderstorms.
Winds will initially be southerly to south-westerly at 3 Beaufort, later turning south-westerly to north-westerly at 3 to 4 Beaufort.
The sea will be calm to slight.
Temperatures are forecast to reach:
- 37C inland
- 31C on the west coast
- 33C on other coastal areas
- 26C in the higher mountains
Overnight
Conditions will become mostly clear, although periods of low cloud are expected along the coast.
Later in the night and during the early morning hours, patches of mist or fog may form locally.
Temperatures will fall to:
- 22C inland
- 23C on the coast
- 17C in the higher mountains
Saturday
Cloud is expected to increase during the afternoon, bringing isolated showers and possible thunderstorms, particularly over mountainous and inland areas.
Sunday and Monday
The weather is expected to become mainly fine on both days.
Temperatures on Saturday will remain near Friday's levels, slightly above seasonal averages, before rising further on Sunday and Monday.
