Emergency resources have been reinforced as crews continue efforts to contain the fire near Siviri in Halkidiki. The response extends across land, air and sea, with municipal equipment and maritime units supporting the operation.
Ground crews reinforced
The ground operation now includes 142 firefighters, four teams from the 2nd Special Forest Operations Unit and 51 vehicles.
Among them are 12 firefighters and three vehicles from Moldova, currently in Greece as part of the pre-positioning programme for European firefighters.
Water tankers and machinery from the Municipality of Kassandra are also assisting. Two additional machines have been provided by the Construction and Natural Disaster Response Command.
Aircraft and vessels deployed
Nine aeroplanes and seven helicopters have been assigned to the aerial operation, with one helicopter being used to coordinate the response.
A Fire Service speedboat and vessel are heading to Fourka beach, alongside three Hellenic Coast Guard vessels. Private boats are also participating.
Emergency services on standby
The Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Fire Service is travelling to the area to coordinate the deployed forces.
Police officers have also been mobilised to implement traffic management measures, while the National Emergency Aid Centre has deployed personnel as a precaution and remains ready to respond to any emergencies.
