A 22-year-old woman was admitted to Famagusta General Hospital with a fractured vertebra following an accident near the Sea Caves in Ayia Napa on Wednesday morning.
She and her passenger fell into a nearby ditch, while the quad bike continued moving, crossed the protective railings and plunged into the sea.
Police investigate accident
Police sources told Politis that officers were called to the scene at around 11am on 12 August.
Preliminary investigations found that the quad bike was being driven by the 22-year-old, with a 26-year-old woman as her passenger.
The driver appears to have lost control while attempting to park. Both women fell into an adjacent ditch, while the vehicle continued uncontrolled towards the coastline and ended up in the water.
The 22-year-old was taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a fractured vertebra. She remains in hospital for treatment.

Repeated accidents at Sea Caves
The Sea Caves area at Cape Greco has been the scene of repeated accidents, including falls from the cliffs and serious injuries.
The frequency of such incidents prompted the authorities to install temporary fencing around the site to protect visitors.
