Ukraine has struck infrastructure at three Russian oil refineries in the Bashkortostan region, approximately 1,600 kilometres from the border, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday.
In a post on Telegram, Mr Zelenskyy also said Ukrainian forces had sunk a Russian cargo vessel operating under sanctions.
The vessel, identified as the Yanina, was sailing under the Russian flag and reportedly had a cargo capacity of 100,000 tonnes.
Ukraine also carried out strikes against additional targets in both the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, according to the Ukrainian president.
"Our targets are specific infrastructure facilities that sustain the war effort," Mr Zelenskyy said.
No immediate comment was reported from Russian authorities regarding the claims.
