Five wildfires that broke out in quick succession along the Prodromi-Arodes road in Paphos district were brought under full control by 1:45pm on Saturday, after burning approximately four donums of wild low vegetation.
According to the Forestry Department, the fires erupted at around 12:40pm and were immediately tackled by firefighting crews.
The operation involved 25 Forestry Department personnel, supported by five fire engines, a water tanker and a bulldozer. Additional assistance was provided by four firefighters from the Fire Service using two fire engines, as well as a local resident operating a tractor.
The Forestry Department said the fires were maliciously started and are under investigation.
