Israeli President Isaac Herzog is visiting Cyprus on Thursday at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides, with security measures heightened across parts of the island for the duration of the visit.
Herzog is scheduled to be received at the Presidential Palace, where he will hold a private meeting with Christodoulides focused on deepening cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations between Cyprus and Israel.
According to the Israeli Presidency, the visit forms part of the ongoing dialogue and regular contacts between the two leaders, aimed at further developing Cyprus-Israel ties.
Increased security measures
Police have announced enhanced security arrangements in connection with the visit.
Between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., brief intermittent road closures are expected in:
- The Larnaca district.
- The Larnaca-Nicosia motorway.
- The Nicosia district.
Authorities have advised motorists to expect temporary traffic disruptions during the presidential movements.
Protest planned outside Presidential Palace
Meanwhile, a demonstration is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. outside the Presidential Palace.
The protest is being organised by the Pancyprian Peace Council together with other anti-war activist groups in opposition to the Israeli president's visit.
