Turkey will increase funding allocated to defence and critical technologies by 229% under its 2027-2029 Medium-Term Programme, according to Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
The announcement forms part of Turkey's broader strategy to strengthen domestic technological capabilities, expand local defence production and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.
Focus on domestic defence industry
Yılmaz said the programme prioritises the development of indigenous defence technologies and aims to meet a greater share of national defence requirements through Turkish industry.
