Iran says Lebanon will dominate talks with the US in Switzerland, as tensions rise over ceasefire violations and Tehran reaffirms its right to uranium enrichment.

The situation in Lebanon will be the “main” topic of talks between Iran and the United States starting today in Switzerland, according to the Iranian news agency Irna.

“The Zionist regime continues to violate its commitments regarding Lebanon. This will be the main issue in today’s talks,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, adding that the unfreezing of Iranian assets and exports of Iranian oil will also be discussed.

The Iranian news agency Fars, citing a military source, reported that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and that the Revolutionary Guards’ navy has not issued passage permits for any vessels until further notice.

The Revolutionary Guards announced yesterday the closure of the strait after Tehran accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreed between the United States and Iran by continuing hostilities in Lebanon, and accused the US of failing to uphold its commitment to compel Israel to respect the ceasefire.
