Four people with backgrounds in politics, law and academia are taking up positions in the newly reshuffled government. They are former Famagusta MP Christos Senekis, lawyer and former Limassol municipal councillor Evanthia Tsolaki, former Paphos MP Elias Myrianthous, and political scientist Irene Poyiadji.
Christos Senekis was born in 1977 and traces his roots to occupied Achna. He is a lawyer, an international relations specialist and a computer scientist. He served as Famagusta MP between 2021 and 2026 with Diko, working on social policy, human rights, refugee affairs, local government, agriculture and the environment. During his term he sat on several parliamentary committees and represented the House of Representatives at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Earlier in his career he worked in the private sector, practised law and served as director of the press office of the president of the House. He holds three university degrees, in law, in international and European studies, and in computer science and telecommunications, along with an MBA from the University of Cyprus.
Evanthia Tsolaki is from Limassol and works as a lawyer. She is a law graduate of the University of Athens and holds a master's degree in business administration from the Open University of Cyprus. She brings years of experience in local government, having served three consecutive terms as a Limassol municipal councillor from 2002 to 2016. During her time on the Limassol municipal council she chaired and sat on several key committees, including those for social welfare, development, traffic and tenders. From 2019 until her appointment she sat on the council of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, and she has also served on the boards of the Limassol-Amathus Sewerage Board and the Limassol Bar Association. She remains actively involved in volunteer work.
Elias Myrianthous was born in 1967 and is a certified accountant and auditor. After studying finance and accounting at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he built a career in Paphos and Polis Chrysochous, where he has run his own accounting and auditing firm since 1995. In politics, he served as Paphos MP for Edek, first between 1998 and 2001 and again from 2016 to 2026. During his term he sat on major parliamentary committees, including those for finance, commerce, transport, agriculture and labour, and represented the House at the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy and on Europol's joint parliamentary scrutiny group. He has also held leadership positions at a number of organisations and boards, including the Housing Finance Corporation, the Cyprus Stock Exchange and OPAP Cyprus.
Irene Poyiadji is from Limassol and holds an academic background in political science, history, international relations and European studies. She is a graduate of Panteion University and holds a master's degree in international relations and European studies from the University of Nicosia. Her professional career has been in banking, where she gained experience in project management, regulatory processes and organisational planning. Since 2019 she had worked at the head office of a banking organisation as a project manager and in organisation and methods, focusing on digitisation projects and regulatory compliance work. She has also built a public profile through writing on political and international issues and through participation in conferences and discussions on geopolitics, international relations and European policy.
The four new members of the government come from different professional and political backgrounds, bringing experience from parliament, local government, business, law and public policy.
