Weak low pressure and an unstable air mass will continue to affect Cyprus until Monday, bringing mostly clear conditions in many areas but a risk of afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Tonight will be mainly clear, although locally increased low cloud is expected at intervals. Thin fog or fog may form later, mainly inland and in eastern areas. Winds will be light, mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, at 3 Beaufort, while the sea will become calm to slight. Temperatures will fall to around 18C inland, 20C on the coast and 16C in the higher mountains.
Friday will also begin mainly clear, with local low cloud or fog during the early morning. Cloud will gradually build later in the day, bringing isolated showers and a possible thunderstorm after midday, particularly in the mountains. Hail cannot be ruled out during any thunderstorm.
Winds will initially be light and variable at 3 Beaufort, later becoming south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and locally up to strong at 5 Beaufort on the south-western and southern coasts. The sea will be slight. Temperatures will rise to around 34C inland, 30C on the south-eastern, eastern and northern coasts, 28C on the remaining coasts and 24C in the higher mountains.
Friday night will be mainly clear, although low cloud is expected at intervals, especially along the western coast. Later, thin fog and low cloud or fog may form locally, particularly inland and in eastern areas. Winds will gradually ease to light and locally variable, while the sea will become calm to slight.
From Saturday to Monday, the weather will remain mostly clear in most areas. However, increased cloud after midday is expected to bring isolated showers and thunderstorms in the mountains, inland areas and parts of the east.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Monday and will remain close to average climatic values.
