According to a complaint filed by her husband with police, the woman is reported to have been held while crossing from the occupied areas because her details had not been logged in the system during a previous crossing. The case has been referred to the bicommunal Technical Committee on Crime and Criminal Matters.
A woman, a Republic of Cyprus national, is reported to have been "arrested" yesterday, Saturday, at the Turkish Cypriot checkpoint at the Ayios Dometios crossing point, while crossing from the occupied areas into the government controlled areas, because her identity details had not been logged in the north's system during her crossing the previous day.
According to a police communications spokesperson speaking to CNA, the woman's 47-year-old husband, also a Republic of Cyprus national, went to Ayios Dometios police station yesterday, Saturday, and reported that as his 45-year-old wife was crossing out through the Ayios Dometios crossing point, she was "arrested" by the occupation authorities, because during her crossing out of the occupied areas the previous day, Friday, she had not gone through an identity check.
The Republic of Cyprus police have informed the bicommunal Technical Committee on Crime and Criminal Matters accordingly.
It should be noted that no reports of the incident have appeared in the Turkish Cypriot media. It is not yet known whether the 45-year-old woman will appear today before any "court" in the occupied areas.
