Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou confirms the two leaders will meet on 26 August under UN auspices, as preparations continue for a new expanded conference on the Cyprus problem.

President Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman will meet on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at 4pm, under the auspices of the United Nations, following coordination between the two sides' negotiators, Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou said in a written statement.

The meeting forms part of the understandings reached during the recent visit to Cyprus by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, aimed at the appropriate groundwork for convening a new expanded conference. The goal is to resume substantive negotiations from the point at which they were interrupted, for a comprehensive resolution of the Cyprus problem, on the basis of the agreed framework and the Convergences already achieved.
