A blaze that broke out early afternoon, northeast of the Moutayiakka community in the Limassol district, continued to burn out of control and competent authorities launched the Icarus 2 fire-fighting net.
Fire service crews from Nicosia, Larnaca and Vassiliko stations strengthened ground forces, with a crisis centre set up, coordinating efforts.
Personnel from the Forestry Department, the Gaming Service, Civil Defence as well as the Kitas Weather and SupportCY volunteers are on-scene.
Fire-fighting aircrafts and helicopters are providing aerial support, dropping water on the fire front.
