Ukraine’s DTEK said energy facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region were damaged. Russia’s Defence Ministry also reported strikes on infrastructure and a vessel in Odesa.

More than 600,000 residents in eastern Ukraine were left without electricity after a Russian overnight attack on energy infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukraine’s electricity company DTEK announced today.

“Significant energy facilities in the region were damaged in an overnight attack,” the company said in a post on Telegram.

In a separate statement, Russia’s Defence Ministry said Russian forces had struck energy infrastructure used by the Ukrainian military, as well as a container ship at the port of Odesa, on the Black Sea in southwestern Ukraine. According to the ministry, the vessel was carrying weapons and military equipment.

The ministry also said that Russia had struck an energy substation in Ukraine’s Zhytomyr region, which supplies electricity to the country’s defence industry.
