The Italian Foreign Minister said that personal data belonging to him and members of his family had been published on the dark web. Rome prosecutors are investigating the case.

Personal data belonging to Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, as well as members of his family, were published on the so-called dark web, he said.

In a post on X, Tajani said he would not allow anyone to intimidate him. He added that he would further strengthen relations with allied countries and attributed the attack to Italy’s position on Ukraine.

According to Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano, the pro-Russian hackers «Noname 057(16)» had announced two weeks earlier that they were prepared to pay online anyone who could provide them with information about Tajani, Rome chief prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi, and Ivano Gabrieli, head of the Italian police directorate for combating cyber and online crime.

The newspaper described the incident as a hybrid attack and reported that Rome prosecutors are conducting an investigation.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her solidarity with Tajani, stressing that "this is a serious matter which must be addressed with the greatest possible determination".
