Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, have discussed possible ways to revive diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the conflict between Iran and the United States, a Pakistani security official told Reuters on Friday.

Possible return to talks

The two officials spoke by telephone on Thursday, focusing on the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel, as well as the possibility of a return to negotiations.

Their discussion also covered attacks by Yemen’s Houthis against Saudi Arabia, according to the official.

The Pakistani military did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
