Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stressed the importance of strengthening relations between Turkey and Egypt following the conclusion of his visit to Cairo.
In a post on X, Fidan described the visit as an “extremely important opportunity” to discuss both bilateral cooperation and regional developments, saying relations between Ankara and Cairo were “evolving at an excellent level”.
During his visit, Fidan co-chaired the second meeting of the Turkey-Egypt Joint Planning Group with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty.

He also held meetings with Egypt’s General Intelligence Service chief, Hassan Rashad, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League.
According to Fidan, agreements were signed aimed at increasing bilateral trade, diversifying economic relations and strengthening connectivity between the two countries.
“Turkey and Egypt are two major countries that act with an awareness of the responsibility imposed on them by history and geography,” Fidan said.
He added that closer cooperation between Ankara and Cairo would contribute to “peace, stability and prosperity” across the region.
Fidan said the two countries would continue to deepen their relations, based on “mutual trust and common interests”, in line with the vision of their respective presidents.
