Two commercial ships with German ownership links were struck by Russian drones yesterday in the Black Sea, according to German media reports, which say both vessels belong to shipping companies based in Hamburg.
One ship, a bulk carrier, was hit by a Russian drone 20 nautical miles off the coast of Odesa. The crew abandoned the vessel, with no deaths or injuries reported.
In the second incident, a ship was struck at another location in the Black Sea while carrying a cargo of wheat from Ukraine bound for the West. One crew member was killed in the attack.
German media reported that Russia confirmed the strikes on the vessels, describing them as "part of the war against Ukrainian exports."
