Koili, a community in Paphos district, has unveiled its own “Corner of Love”, a new attraction combining local history with a modern symbol of love and friendship.
The location was chosen because of its connection to village tradition. According to the community, young men and women once gathered there, forming friendships and relationships that sometimes led to marriage and the creation of families.
A tradition given new life
Honouring that history, the community transformed the site into a space where visitors can attach a love lock symbolising affection, friendship or a lifelong promise, following a custom found in cities around the world.
The initiative aims to promote Koili’s cultural identity while creating a new attraction for visitors from Cyprus and abroad. It also seeks to highlight the village’s history, traditions and hospitality.
An invitation to visitors
The community is inviting members of the public to visit the Corner of Love, learn about the location’s history, take photographs and leave their own symbolic mark.
The Corner of Love is located in the Sfalangas area of Koili at map reference VF53+VW5 and is intended to become one of the area’s most distinctive visitor attractions.
