Relations between Cyprus and the United States are currently at their strongest point ever, according to the Presidency of the Republic, which says bilateral cooperation continues to expand across a range of sectors.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Presidency stated that "Cyprus-US relations are today at the highest level they have ever been."

The Presidency highlighted the launch of the Cyprus-US Strategic Dialogue and the President's historic visit to the White House, the first by a Cypriot president in 28 years, describing both developments as important milestones in upgrading bilateral relations and opening a new chapter in cooperation between the two countries.

Cooperation expanding across multiple sectors

According to the Presidency, cooperation has continued to broaden since then.

"Since then, cooperation has continued to expand, from defence and security to energy, the economy, education and technology, creating new opportunities for Cyprus and strengthening the country's position."

The Presidency added that the economic dimension of the relationship has assumed particular importance, especially through efforts to attract foreign investment.

Focus on attracting investment

The Presidency said President Nikos Christodoulides' targeted contacts in New York, Texas and Silicon Valley have already produced tangible results.

"The targeted contacts of the President of the Republic in New York, Texas and Silicon Valley aimed at attracting investment have already yielded concrete results, paving the way for new investments and partnerships in Cyprus."

Interest from major US companies

The statement also pointed to the interest shown by leading US corporations, including Amazon, NVIDIA and Plug and Play, and noted that some have already established a presence in Cyprus.

According to the Presidency, this development represents a vote of confidence in the Cypriot economy and creates new opportunities in:

  • Technology.
  • Innovation.
  • High value-added investment.

"The interest of leading American companies, including Amazon, NVIDIA and Plug and Play, and the presence of some of them in Cyprus just one year later, constitute a tangible vote of confidence in the prospects of the Cypriot economy."

Looking ahead

The Presidency said the objective is to continue and strengthen this trajectory.

"It is precisely this course that we seek to continue and reinforce, creating even more opportunities for Cyprus and its citizens."
