Fidias Panayiotou appeared satisfied with his meeting with the President of the Republic, stressing that the aim is cooperation and not confrontation, with the good of Cyprus as the guiding principle.

In a video he posted after the meeting, which lasted around an hour, Fidias Panayiotou described the discussion as “interesting” and stressed that he assured the President that the stance of ‘Direct Democracy’ will be constructive.

“I assured him that we are not here to argue or accuse each other. We are here to cooperate for the good of Cyprus and, on issues where there is agreement, we will fight for them to move forward,” he said.

At the same time, he noted that with the participation of ‘Direct Democracy’ in the National Council there will be no problems.

“Now that Direct Democracy has entered the National Council, it will have no problem with us. We will be proper, serious and we will not release anything that should not be made public,” he said.

Fidias Panayiotou also revealed that during the meeting specific policy proposals of ‘Direct Democracy’ were discussed, which, as he said, the President found interesting. Among them were the proposal for an increase in pensions, as well as the provision of a financial bonus for every birth.

As he stated, discussions are expected to continue in the future, while he expressed his satisfaction with the way the President is treating ‘Direct Democracy’ following its electoral presence in the House.

“We are ready to cooperate with the President and the parties, in order to improve and develop our country,” he concluded.
