Fidias Panayiotou has decided to remain in the European Parliament, declining the seat he secured in the House of Representatives.

In a letter to the Chief Returning Officer, Elikkos Elia, the leader of Direct Democracy Cyprus formally relinquished his parliamentary seat following Sunday’s election.

As a result, the Nicosia seat, which Panayiotou won with 5,108 votes, will pass to Yiannis Laouris, who was second in preference votes in the district with 1,700 votes.
