The defendants, aged 31, 28 and 28, face charges including premeditated murder and remain remanded until 2 November.

Prosecution and defence submitted agreed facts relating to 17 testimonies on Monday, as proceedings opened before the Permanent Assize Court of Limassol in the case concerning the murder of Stavros Demosthenous on 17 October 2025. The three defendants, one aged 31 and two aged 28, will remain remanded at the Central Prisons until the hearing resumes on 2 November, CNA reported.

The charges

The three face charges including:

  • premeditated murder
  • conspiracy to commit a felony
  • conspiracy to commit murder
  • illegal possession, carrying and use of a firearm and explosives

Alleged roles of the accused

The 31-year-old is alleged to have been the driver of the van from which the shots were fired.

One of the 28-year-olds is alleged to have carried out the killing, while the other is alleged to have driven the perpetrators away in a car after they abandoned the motorcycle.

Earlier proceedings

Charges against three other people, two aged 30 and one aged 51, were stayed in an earlier proceeding.

One of the 30-year-olds had been charged only with stealing a car, which is believed to have been used in planning the murder. He admitted the offence immediately and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Next hearing

The trial will continue on 2 November.
