A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four days by the Limassol District Court to facilitate police investigations into an attempted property destruction case involving explosives. The incident took place in Limassol on 30 September 2026.

The man was arrested on Friday under a court warrant after evidence emerged during the investigation.

The case concerns an improvised explosive device discovered outside the entrance of a shop in Limassol in the early hours of 30 September. Police attended the scene after receiving information from a member of the public.

The area was immediately cordoned off, and a police bomb disposal expert safely neutralised the device, which had been triggered but failed to explode.

Three other people, aged 20, 22 and 28, were arrested in connection with the case on 4 October 2026. They were remanded in custody for eight days by a court order issued the same day, according to Police Press Release No. 7, dated 4 October 2026.

On 12 October 2026, the case was referred for trial before the Limassol Permanent Criminal Court. The 22-year-old was among the three individuals charged in connection with the case.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is continuing its investigations.
