The death toll from the Filo Jet shipwreck off Kyrenia has risen to 14 following the recovery of another body during continuing search operations.
According to Kıbrıs Postası, "prime minister" Ünal Üstel said search teams operating in the area located the body of a man whose identity has not yet been established.
Initial assessments suggest the victim was a man aged between 55 and 60, while identification procedures are already under way.
With the latest recovery, the number of confirmed fatalities from the disaster has increased to 14, while the number of people still missing has fallen to 14.
Searches continue around the clock
Efforts to locate the remaining missing persons are continuing on a 24-hour basis.
In a statement, Üstel said search operations are being conducted continuously, seven days a week, with the aim of locating everyone still missing following the shipwreck.
"The searches continue without interruption, 24 hours a day, in order to reach our missing people," he said, while also expressing condolences to the families of the victims.
The shipwreck off the coast of Kyrenia has triggered a major search-and-rescue operation, with efforts continuing as long as people remain unaccounted for.
