A father whose two children are among the 18 people missing after the deadly shipwreck off Kyrenia was filmed running behind ambulances leaving the harbour and asking whether his children were inside. According to Turkish Cypriot outlet Özgür Gazete Kıbrıs, he has received no information about their fate.
Father runs behind ambulances
The man is the father of 14-year-old Saliha Miray Biçer and six-year-old Mehmet Asaf Biçer, both of whom remain missing following the shipwreck.
Footage published on X by Özgür Gazete Kıbrıs shows him running behind ambulances as they leave the harbour.

The outlet reported that families awaiting news of missing relatives have also been prevented from entering the harbour.
Erhürman arrives at the harbour
Politis journalist Filippos Polo, who is at the scene, reported that Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman and the head of the AKP in the occupied areas arrived at the harbour in an attempt to calm the crowd.
The AKP official faced strong criticism and boos after failing to provide what those gathered considered satisfactory answers.
