Vehicles ranging from motorhomes and buses to passenger cars and motorcycles appeared in EU Safety Gate notices during weeks 32 and 33 of 2026. Cyprus’s Road Transport Department has advised owners to check whether their vehicle is affected and seek instructions from the manufacturer or its representative.
Vehicles listed through Safety Gate
The department published the list of vehicles identified as dangerous on the EU market and recorded on Safety Gate, the EU’s rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products.
The notices cover trucks, motorhomes, buses, light commercial vehicles, passenger cars, passenger vans and motorcycles.
The identified risks concern possible injury and fire.
Obligations for manufacturers and sellers
The department called on manufacturers, representatives, distributors, importers and sellers, including businesses operating online or remotely, to notify it if they have supplied or continue to offer any of the affected products in the Republic of Cyprus.
If the vehicles are available on the Cypriot market, the businesses concerned must take all necessary measures to recall them in accordance with the relevant legislation.
Guidance for vehicle owners
Consumers who own a vehicle covered by the notices should contact the manufacturer, its representative or an authorised distributor for further instructions.
Owners should check the information on their vehicle registration certificate, including the production period and the vehicle’s type or model number, to establish whether it is affected.
If a manufacturer, representative, distributor, importer or seller refuses to uphold a consumer’s rights, a written complaint can be submitted to the Consumer Protection Service through consumer.gov.cy.
