Kalia Antoniou will have the chance to add a second medal to her collection at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games after qualifying for the final of the women's 50m freestyle.
The Cypriot swimmer, who recently won gold in the 100m freestyle, recorded the joint-fastest time in the heats, clocking 25.12 seconds, the same time as Italy's Elena Carpetta.
Antoniou will compete in Tuesday evening's final (25 August, 7.10pm), where she will be among the favourites for another podium finish.
Fastest qualifier
The 50m freestyle final will also feature Greece's Anna Ntountounaki, who qualified seventh with a time of 25.88 seconds.
Lagoutis misses out
In the men's 50m freestyle, Andrew Lagoutis finished 12th and did not advance to the final.
Nikolas Antoniou ultimately did not compete in the event.
