Larnaca Municipality is opening a dialogue with residents as part of the upcoming revision of the Larnaca Local Plan.
Three public meetings have been scheduled during the first week of September in Larnaca, Livadia and Oroklini, giving residents an opportunity to learn more about the proposed revision and submit views and suggestions on issues affecting their communities.
The meetings follow the Interior Ministry's announcement that work will begin on a new local plan for Larnaca. Representatives of planning consultancy ALA Planning Partnership Consultancy will also participate.
The first meeting will take place on 1 September at 6pm at the events hall of the Livadia municipal district. A second meeting will be held on 3 September at 6pm at the Oroklini municipal district amphitheatre, while the third will take place on 7 September at 6pm at Larnaca Municipality's Multipurpose Social Welfare and Employment Centre.
According to the municipality, the meetings will outline the process of preparing the new local plan, the proposed timetable and the key principles guiding future planning policy.
Participants will also receive information on existing planning zones and discuss challenges affecting the future development of each area.
Residents attending the meetings will be invited to share their views on future urban development and the long-term direction of Larnaca, Livadia and Oroklini.
"This is the broader urban planning framework for the expanded municipality, which will determine which areas are residential and which are not, while also addressing development and green spaces," said Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras, who urged residents to attend and contribute their views.
In a statement, the municipality described the new local plan as "an important opportunity to jointly shape a vision for the Larnaca of the coming years, a modern, sustainable and people-centred city that can make the most of its characteristics and potential while responding to the needs of those who live, work and operate there".
Ayios Ioannis redevelopment briefing
In a separate development, Larnaca Municipality announced that an information meeting will be held on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at 7.30pm regarding the redevelopment of the Ayios Ioannis parish and the traffic arrangements that will be introduced during construction.
The meeting will take place in the courtyard of the Church of Saint John the Theologian.
Construction work is expected to begin shortly and is scheduled to last two years.
