Man, 23, Arrested After Allegedly Hitting 43-Year-Old With Car in Nicosia

Police say the suspect fled a garage at speed after allegedly shouting and threatening people at the scene.

 

A 23-year-old man has been arrested following an incident at a car repair garage in the Nicosia district that left a 43-year-old injured. Police are investigating alleged acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, threats, reckless driving and dangerous driving.

Incident at Nicosia garage

According to the evidence under investigation, the 23-year-old was at the garage on Thursday afternoon, where he allegedly caused a disturbance by shouting and threatening people at the premises.

Police officers were called to the scene. When the suspect saw them arriving, he allegedly entered his vehicle and drove away at high speed.

During his departure, the vehicle struck a 43-year-old man, injuring him in the legs and elbows.

Suspect arrested after warrant issued

Police obtained a court warrant for the 23-year-old’s arrest. He was located and arrested early on Friday and remains in custody to assist with the investigation.
