A fire broke out around 13:45 on Thursday at an illegal dump site in the community of Arsos, in the Limassol district, mobilising a large ground firefighting response.

According to the Kitasweather Volunteer Firefighting Group, it has not yet been clarified whether the fire remains confined to the illegal dump site or has spread to the surrounding area.

The thick smoke caused by the fire is visible even from the group's camera in Pissouri, an indication of the intensity of the incident.

Five crewed fire engines from Limassol district fire stations are working to bring the blaze under control, along with six fire vehicles from the Forestry Department. Two bulldozers are also being sent to the area to support the firefighting effort.
