Two balconies collapsed on Monday night in Limassol’s Kapsalos-Tricherousa area, causing damage to a parked vehicle and prompting emergency measures for the evacuation of the apartment building.
According to initial information from Politis correspondent Yiannis Pazouros, the incident occurred on a side street off Petrou Tsirou and Ilyssou roads.
A balcony on the fourth floor reportedly collapsed first, bringing down the balcony directly beneath it. The debris subsequently fell onto a parked vehicle.
Engineers from the Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA) were dispatched to the scene to carry out an on-site inspection.
At the same time, the EOA is coordinating with Civil Defence to begin evacuating the building due to the emergency nature of the situation.
The apartment block is seven storeys high and contains more than 30 flats.
It remains unclear whether the building is included in the registry of dangerous structures.
No injuries have been reported so far.
