Major Drug Seizure Reported in Occupied Kyrenia

More than nine kilograms of cannabis and 300 grams of cocaine were seized during an operation, while a separate fake driving licence investigation has led to 15 arrests.

 

More than nine kilograms of cannabis, cocaine and cash believed to be linked to drug sales were seized during a police operation in occupied Kyrenia, according to Turkish Cypriot media.

A search at the home of one of two suspects reportedly uncovered 9.023 kilograms of cannabis, 300 grams of cocaine, 6,275 Turkish lira and €200 in cash, as well as a packaging machine.

Two people, aged 28 and 24, were arrested and remanded in custody.

In a separate case, also in Kyrenia, the investigation into fake driving licences has led to 15 arrests, including the owner of a driving school.

According to reports, records found at the driving school contained information and documents belonging to 20 people, which are now being examined.

A court in Kyrenia was told on Thursday that suspects had admitted obtaining fake driving licences in exchange for money.

Seven suspects in the case were remanded for one further day.
