Four individuals were arrested across Cyprus during targeted preventive police operations carried out on Wednesday night, according to a police announcement.
The operations were conducted in urban areas with the aim of preventing serious criminal activity, maintaining public order and strengthening the public’s sense of safety.
Arrests for various offences
The four arrests relate to cases of arson, illegal stay, theft and other offences, police said.
Extensive checks and inspections
During the operations, police officers stopped and checked 565 drivers and 144 passengers, while 44 premises were inspected, resulting in two reports.
In traffic checks, a total of 327 reports were filed for various traffic violations, with a further 14 traffic offences still under investigation. Among these were 86 reports for exceeding the speed limit, while police immobilised ten vehicles.
At the same time, 76 alcohol tests were carried out, leading to three reports for driving under the influence of alcohol, while two drivers tested positive in roadside drug tests.
