Coverage of Marco Rubio's Athens visit also focuses on Greek F-35s and the US presence at Souda and Alexandroupoli.

The Greece-Cyprus-Israel electricity cable (GSI) is one of the main themes in Turkish media coverage of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's visit to Athens. Turkish reports are also focusing on Greece's F-35 fighter jets and the US military presence at Souda and Alexandroupoli.

There has been no official reaction from the Turkish government so far.

The electricity cable

Aydınlık reports that the electricity cable is an issue that "directly concerns Turkey".

Meanwhile, Birlik writes that "Athens has tied its hopes and expectations to Rubio".

F-35s and the Aegean

The Turkish reports also focus on the armament of Greece's F-35s and on the possible impact that further strengthening Greek-American defence cooperation could have on the balance of power in the Aegean.

Souda and Alexandroupoli

Particular reference is made to Souda and Alexandroupoli, two locations that the Turkish press consistently links to the growing US military presence in Greece.

How the visit is being viewed in Turkey

The reports indicate that Mr Rubio's visit is being viewed in Turkey mainly through the prism of Greek-Turkish relations and the balance of power in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.
