The Israeli travel company ISSTA is creating an “air bridge” between Jordan and Cyprus in response to emergency restrictions on flight operations and the 100‑passenger limit currently imposed on aircraft departing from or arriving to Tel Aviv.

According to the company’s announcement, daily flights will operate from King Hussein International (Aqaba) Airport in Jordan to Paphos during the Jewish Passover period – specifically from 30 March to 8 April – to meet increased demand for short holidays abroad at a time when flight availability from Israel remains limited.

The initiative forms part of a broader adjustment in the aviation market, as reduced activity by foreign airlines in Israel and operational limitations at the country’s main airport have prompted the search for alternative ways to transport travellers amid ongoing instability in the Middle East.

ISSTA has also put together accommodation packages in Paphos, focusing on hotels suited to the needs of Israeli visitors during the holiday period.

The company’s operational model includes organised ground transport for passengers from Israel to Jordan, assistance with entry‑visa procedures and full escort services up to boarding for flights departing from Aqaba. The flights will be operated by Electra Airways.

While the use of Aqaba airport as an alternative hub is not new, it has gained added importance under current geopolitical uncertainty and the limited availability of flight slots at Tel Aviv.
