Christodoulides Congratulates Magyar on Hungarian Election Victory

Cyprus president and foreign minister express readiness to work with Hungary’s new leadership on EU agenda.

President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides congratulated Peter Magyar after his party prevailed in the Hungarian elections held on April 12.

In a post on X, President Christodoulides said he looked forward to working closely with the new Hungarian leadership on European Union matters, including during the upcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.

“I look forward to working closely together across the European agenda, also in the context of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, for a strong, secure Union, with a united voice and a robust role on the international scene,” the President wrote, concluding with a reference to “a more autonomous Union, open to the world.”

Foreign minister also congratulates Magyar

Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos also conveyed his congratulations to Magyar in a message posted on X.

“I look forward to working in tandem with the new administration for a more resilient, more autonomous and more internationally engaging EU,” Kombos wrote.
