The Democratic Rally (DISY) municipal group in Nicosia has expressed strong disagreement with the inclusion of a Turkish Cypriot artist in an exhibition at the Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre (NiMAC).
In a statement, the group said it was issuing a public expression of dissatisfaction over the decision to host the artist’s work, arguing that his participation is “problematic”.
According to the statement, the artist “is alleged to have created the flag of the pseudo-state on the Pentadaktylos mountain range”, a claim the group says raises serious concerns about his inclusion in the exhibition.
The DISY municipal group added that it disagrees with the decision to feature the artist, stressing that the issue prompted them to make their objections public.
