Met Department Warns of Strong Winds on Coast

Winds that may reach up to 7 Beaufort will affect Cyprus’ coastal areas.

According to a warning from the Meteorological Department, strong to very strong and at times very strong to gale-force westerly to northwesterly winds of 5 to 6 Beaufort and occasionally 6 to 7 Beaufort will affect the western and the southern and northern coasts.

The sea will be rough along the southern coasts and rough to very rough in the west and north.

It adds that weak high pressure is affecting the area. Initially, isolated showers or even a thunderstorm are expected, mainly in the west and north. However, after midday the weather will become mostly clear.

Visibility will be good to moderate while the sea temperature will be 18°C.
