According to the latest Eurostat data for 2024, around one in seven residents in Cyprus, 14.6%, said they were unable to keep their home adequately warm, a higher share than the EU average.
The survey showed that 9.2% of the population of the European Union was unable to keep their home adequately warm during the year, representing an improvement of 1.4 percentage points compared with 2023.
Greece and Bulgaria rank first in energy poverty, with 19% of the population unable to ensure an adequately warm home (compared with 19.2% and 20.7% respectively in 2023). They are followed by Lithuania with 18% and Spain with 17.5%.
By contrast, the countries reporting the lowest levels of difficulty are Finland with 2.7%, Poland and Slovenia with 3.3%, and Estonia and Luxembourg with 3.6%.
