Three people were remanded in custody for seven days by the Larnaca District Court on Friday following a drug raid carried out by officers in Larnaca.

According to a police statement, members of the Cyprus Police Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and the Rapid Response Unit (YDAP) entered the apartment of a 34-year-old man after obtaining a judicial arrest and search warrant as part of an investigation into illegal drug possession.

When officers entered the apartment, four individuals were inside. After being informed of the police officers’ identity, two of them jumped from a window on the second floor of the building and fell to the ground, sustaining injuries.

The two individuals were a 34-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman. Both were transported by ambulance to the Larnaca General Hospital for treatment. The man suffered external injuries, while the woman sustained an open fracture to her arm.

Police investigations later showed that both were residing illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. The 34-year-old man was arrested under the outstanding warrant, while the woman was arrested for an offence committed in flagrante.

Two additional individuals found inside the apartment were also 34 years old.

During the search of the premises, police discovered a significant quantity of suspected drugs and related evidence. Officers seized approximately 950 grams of cannabis divided into 26 packages, a large number of pills and 100 small bottles containing an unknown substance. Authorities also confiscated seven mobile phones and €815 in cash.

Three of the individuals were subsequently re-arrested under court warrants, while no incriminating evidence was found against the fourth 34-year-old present in the apartment.

The investigation is ongoing.
