Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky will attend the informal European Union summit in Cyprus in person, changing initial plans to participate remotely.
According to sources cited by the Cyprus News Agency, Zelensky will now brief EU leaders directly during the summit, which takes place on Thursday and Friday.
He had previously been expected to address the gathering via video link during a session scheduled ahead of the working dinner on 23 April in Ayia Napa. However, the decision has now shifted to a physical presence.
Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna had indicated last week that Zelensky had been invited but was set to join the meeting remotely. The updated plan marks a late change in arrangements for the high-level discussions.
Zelensky is expected to brief leaders on developments in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
