Most of the cancelled departures were bound for European cities, while dozens of arriving flights were also cancelled or delayed.

Dozens of flights were cancelled on Sunday at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs, because of gale-force winds brought by Storm Boelo. AFP counted 90 cancelled departures on Sunday, according to the airport’s website, most of them to European cities including Paris, Rome and Dublin. Dozens of flights due to land at Schiphol were also cancelled or delayed. “Because of the strong winds, fewer flights are expected to take off and land today, Sunday 25 October,” the airport said. Schiphol did not specify how many flights would be affected and had not yet responded to an AFP request for further information.
