Greek tax authorities are reportedly reviewing financial records linked to Anna Vissi's concerts at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens and a series of performances abroad, prompting media reports about possible VAT-related irregularities.
According to reports cited by iefimerida.gr, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is examining whether approximately €80,000 in VAT linked to two concerts at the Panathenaic Stadium was properly declared by production companies involved in the events.
The reports also refer to checks relating to Vissi's recent European mini-tour, which included performances in Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Amsterdam, Paris and Brussels.
According to the same reports, authorities are examining VAT amounts of around €50,000 that are alleged not to have been declared.
The reported audit is also said to include invoices and financial documents issued through companies based in Cyprus and the United Kingdom, with media reports also mentioning Nikos Karvelas.
Vissi's team rejects allegations
Vissi's representatives have strongly denied suggestions of outstanding tax obligations.
In comments broadcast by the television programme Chamogela Kai Pali, the singer's team said tax audits are standard procedure for major concert productions, particularly when large numbers of tickets are sold.
"Audits are a standard procedure for all major concerts, especially when such large numbers of tickets are involved. The same happened last year and the year before, with all obligations fully met. The exact same process is being followed this year and is expected to be completed in the coming days."
The singer's team also rejected reports suggesting that companies based in Cyprus or the UK have unpaid VAT liabilities.
"Everything is proceeding normally and in accordance with the relevant procedures. Reports regarding companies in England and Cyprus with unpaid VAT are not true."
'Nothing improper'
Vissi's representatives said all required financial documentation has been submitted to the relevant authorities.
"We have been fully compliant and consistent with all our obligations throughout the years. This year, as in every previous year, all necessary invoices, receipts and agreements have been properly submitted. There is absolutely nothing improper."
The reports concerning undeclared amounts remain subject to review, and there has been no confirmed finding of any tax violation.
