The Cyprus Photographic Society, Paphos Branch, is organising the 12th Cyprus Photomarathon, inviting photographers, children, families and members of the public to take part in a creative photography challenge across the city.
The event will take place on 24 October 2026 and aims to encourage artistic expression through photography while allowing participants to explore the heart of Paphos.
Participation is open to everyone, regardless of photographic experience, and entrants may use either a camera or a mobile phone.
According to the organisers, a judging panel will announce four photographic themes at the start of the competition. Participants will then have four hours to move freely around Paphos and capture images inspired by the themes.
At the end of the challenge, each participant must submit one photograph for each of the four themes.
Event programme
The gathering point and starting location will be Kennedy Square in Paphos.
- 09:15 – 10:15: Registration of participants
- 09:50: Welcome address and briefing on competition rules
- 10:00: Official start and announcement of the four themes
- 13:30 – 14:30: Finish and submission of photographs
Awards and exhibition
The organisers are encouraging the public to participate alongside friends and family, using photography as a means of creative expression and discovery.
The top three winners in each theme category will receive a commemorative plaque, while the top six entries in each category will be awarded diplomas.
A total of three winners and three commendations will be selected for each of the four themes.
All submitted photographs will also be showcased at a special event scheduled for December 2026, giving the public an opportunity to view the different perspectives and interpretations captured by participants.

- Simos Charalambous, photographer and vice-president of the Cyprus Photographic Society, Paphos Branch
Organisers said the 12th Cyprus Photomarathon aims to bring together people with a shared passion for photography, offering a creative experience within the urban landscape of Paphos while highlighting photography as a tool for observation, expression and communication.
