Anna Vissi wrote her response to Nikos Karvelas entirely by herself and without assistance from others, her lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulos has revealed.
Speaking on the television programme Super Katerina, Dimitrakopoulos said the singer drafted the full statement herself and sent it to him in the early hours of the morning, without requiring any legal or other intervention.
The prominent criminal lawyer also revealed that he became involved in the case following discussions with Yiannis Koustas, Dimitra Koustas and Anna Vissi, who informed him of what he described as a €1.5 million financial claim from Karvelas’ side.
According to Dimitrakopoulos, Vissi’s side considers the claim to have no legal basis. He also alleged that warnings had been made that unless the sum was paid, permission would not be granted for the concert to go ahead.
The private agreement that was never signed
Dimitrakopoulos said he had also been in contact with Karvelas’ lawyer and that the two sides had come close to reaching an agreement.
He explained that he had received a draft private agreement, to which a clause was added that Vissi considered essential for the deal to proceed.
Under the proposed clause, both sides would refrain from making public statements that could be regarded as defamatory towards the other.
The provision also included a €50,000 penalty clause in the event of a breach.
According to Dimitrakopoulos, the refusal to accept this condition ultimately resulted in the agreement not being signed.
He added that subsequent public statements caused further dissatisfaction for Vissi.
