Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi is expected to visit Tehran on Tuesday as part of ongoing discussions between Oman and Iran concerning the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced on Monday.
The visit follows continued diplomatic contacts involving regional actors seeking to ease tensions and maintain dialogue on security and navigation issues in the strategically important waterway.
Pakistani army chief also expected in Tehran
On Sunday, Baghaei announced that Field Marshal Asim Munir, head of Pakistan's armed forces, was expected in Tehran on Monday.
Pakistan is among several countries playing a mediating role between Iran and the United States, according to Iranian officials.
Focus on regional diplomacy
Oman has long acted as an intermediary in regional disputes and has frequently facilitated contacts involving Iran and Western powers.
The planned visit by Albusaidi comes amid heightened diplomatic activity in the region as discussions continue over security arrangements and developments linked to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important shipping routes.
