The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported an incident involving a tanker near the Strait of Hormuz, as tensions continue to affect one of the world's most important shipping routes.
According to a UKMTO statement, the organisation "received a report of an incident involving a tanker and military forces in the Gulf of Oman."
At the same time, Iran announced that it had intercepted four vessels attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that over the past 24 hours it had halted the transit of four ships using what it described as "warning shots", which are typically fired using missiles.
Iran has been systematically obstructing transit through the Strait of Hormuz since the collapse of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, which had temporarily allowed the reopening of the waterway to international shipping.
